Ice hockey –

Frustrated by and defeated in overtime in , the Corsairs are struggling to launch their season. Always deprived of Jeremiah Luedtke, they are aiming for a first success against the Yetis largely beaten by Neuilly a week earlier at the Aren’ice in and moving up to the North with a second defeat under their belt. Greeted by initial pressure from the locals, the Yetis were given the first opportunity by Eric Léger, the fastest on the left. Overthrown, Michael Luba remains for a time lying on thee icicle, under the protests of a crowd angry at not seeing the attacker reach a jail which Fyodor Yarovinsky finally inaugurated, guilty of a slashing fifteen seconds later (03’30″).

Théo Larroque blocks the entrance to the zone at Belharfi, then the calm and technique of Hrebenyk and Altybarmakyan save precious seconds. Finally occupied on the return to five by a try from Budínský captured, Victor Goy came under pressure during the second numerical advantage, the result of another slashing from Kalin. Budínský and Young throw in turn, before a rise from Dinda whose recovery ends in the solid boot of the goalkeeper. The storm has passed and the maritime passing game is in progress, the Haut-Savoyard interference in the area has the gift of irritating a Luba overwhelmed by the traffic in its enclave. Until then quite prominent for his ease in restarting, the Ukrainian defender Artem Hrebenyk collides with Daneau launched in front of the scorer’s table, joining the prison in turn at the moment when his coach Romain Sadoine insults, standing on the railing, the refereeing body . Without too much damage because no throw comes to occupy Goy, spared by a miss from Budínský in front of the open cage. Invectives and muscular explanations accompany each whistle, interspersed with a rise in power of Yetis hitherto held back by inferiorities. With a spin around the cage, Eric Léger tries to surprise Luba, who ends up losing on the opponent’s first power play. The defense has been slipping behind the puck for several seconds, Deberge is at fault and Altybarmakyan isolates Mathis Chatellard four seconds from the first signal (0-1 at 19’56″).

2024 10 12 dunkirk montblanc 3Number 71, a great leader of the neighboring Red Devils over the last two seasons, is still on the move after returning from the locker room and Mont-Blanc camps more often in an offensive zone from where the other former striker Fyodor Yarovinsky misses the target . However, indiscipline caught up with Yegor Kalin, too committed to Clément Thomas, on the lookout for Vit Budínský’s shot. From the bench, the Belarusian witnesses the ineffectiveness of , unable to throw during the two minutes of penance. With the forces reversing thanks to an obstruction from Rayan Belharfi, Artem Hrebenyk once again showcases his golden helmet. The defender who arrived from Finland misses his recovery, but keeps the disc, sent without trembling towards the cage (0-2 at 28’26″). Faced with the apathy of his troops, illustrated by a third goal born from a new offering from Altybarmakyan for Dzhyg (0-3 at 28’43″), Jonathan Lafrance requests a time-out.

However, the situation is not getting any better; the fifth superiority finally leads to a slap shot from Dinda, but Goy is vigilant and Hrebenyk then deflects the Slovak’s pass into the protective net. And if a delay in play by Berruex to prevent a privateer goal in traffic offers a penalty shot to Zackary Daneau, success seems to elude the Northerners (32’11″). The gap is about to widen as the throws follow one another towards Michael Luba, who saves with his upper body a very passive defense on Mathis Chatellard, relaxes to prevent Hrebenyk from finding the fault of the blue line and pits the gauntlet against Cocar. At the end of this difficult period, HGD regained hope thanks to Rayan Belharfi at mid-distance (1-3 at 38’07″), especially as captain Mathis Chatellard made a mistake in the following minute.

2024 10 12 dunkirk montblanc 4The hypothesis of a comeback reaches the bays at the second break, it is confirmed through Zackary Daneau, insisting in front of the cage (2-3 at 40’45″). Ilya Altybarmakyan releases a new number, but the mistakes and protests handicap the Alpins who are otherwise angry with the public, whom Yarovinsky insults on occasion. However, the local power play pales in comparison to that of the evening visitors, who punished an obstruction by Clément Thomas by their captain Chatellard, alone facing the open cage (2-4 at 47’59″). Time is running out for the Corsairs, killed by an impeccable intervention from Goy’s mitt against Carpentier. Solid in front of Daneau and Thomas, Victor Goy ended up losing on a recovery from Romain Carpentier, following a striking entry into the zone from the returning captain (3-4 at 56’43″). Unfortunately for the Flandriens, an excess of enthusiasm from Pierre Vervoort in the offensive zone, while the puck is already far away (57’28″) reduces their chances. Cautiously, Mont-Blanc turns the rubber. The last stand in numerical inferiority and the presence of Daneau in ambush will not change anything: at the end of an uneven performance and dominated on the special units, the Corsairs are bogged down at the bottom of the ranking with their neighbors from Valenciennes, who they will visit on Saturday.

Post-match comments
Romain Sadoine (Mont-Blanc coach): “We knew it would be tough, between two teams aiming for the top of the table and lacking points, that it would be tough. The team suffered several penalties but the special teams were effective, which is what changed compared to previous matches, especially on the power play. It’s a benchmark match for us, after a lack of success during games where we threw twice as much as our opponents. We produced some play and it paid off. Artem Hrebenyk is a top defender, he only recently arrived and is already gaining momentum. Ilya Altybarmakyan had returned to Russia, but, as we were still in contact, he told me that after two preparation matches he was not completely satisfied with his situation. As for Fyodor Yarovinsky, I contacted him because we were having difficulties with the Kazakh embassy regarding the arrival of reinforcement. He was still in Valenciennes and I told him that there was a train at 1 p.m. to join us, which he did. With this good group, we are aiming for the top of the table, the Top 6 of a Division 1 which we know is tight and where the ranking can be decided by one or two points. »
