This Friday, October 11, RTL went to a craftsman in Chaponost near Lyon. Gaëtan Martin, boss of the PCS company, which specializes in the installation of gas boilers, expects his phone to start heating up. The professional risks being in high demand before the application of the new VAT increase.
An increase in taxation from which many residents living in the city center will not be able to escape, for lack of alternative, according to the heating engineer: “Anything that is going to be co-owned, in an apartment, it is complicated to put a group there very often outside, for technical reasons,” he explains. Gaëtan Martin specifies that “the replacement of gas boilers with heat pumps ultimately represents a very small part of the market“.
Serge, who has just ordered a brand new gas boiler which will allow him to save 30% on consumption, has slipped through the cracks: “15% is significant on an investment like that, it’s 1,000 euros more“, he emphasizes.
The government justifies this change in VAT by bringing it into compliance with a European directive on energy.
