Pro D2 – What to remember from the evening: Erwan Dridi (Brive) in footballer mode, learns to receive

Brive emerges victorious from this sixth day of Pro D2, thanks to its prestigious victory against the BO. A success punctuated by a magnificent gesture from winger Erwan Dridi. At the bottom of the table, the Niçois offer themselves a first victory on their land and are no longer last. Everything you need to remember from this day!

The performance of the evening: learns to receive

After two defeats at home, it was time for the Niçois to prove to their opponents that the trip to Marcel-Volot would not resemble a holiday evening on the Côte d’Azur. The Montois have experienced this. However, everything was not simple for Alexandre Compan’s men who did not make their task easier.

Largely in the lead at the break (16-3)the new residents of Pro D2 let the Landais come back little by little until Laousse Azpiazu’s try which even allowed the Yellow and Black to take the lead for the first time (19-20). But a penalty try after a fault from the same Laousse Azpiazu, then a new penalty which delivered the Niçois who can celebrate their first victory at home in Pro D2. With this success, the second in the division, Nice is no longer last and is even only three points behind its victim of the evening.

The counter performance of the evening: Soyaux-Angoulême, homesickness

The Angoumoisins are affected by a rare disease, even more so in the world of oval ball, Alexandre Ruiz’s men are homesick but at home, in Chanzy. While they came out victorious in their three trips (, Nice and ), they have never won in their den with defeats against Brive and Mont-de-Marsan and now this draw against Provence.

In a meeting where the scoreboard shows nothing of the two teams’ desire to play, but much more of their almost chronic clumsiness in the scoring areas, Angoulême broke through the Aixois defense seven times, beat 29 defenders and covered 334 meters with ball in hand without ever scoring a single try. The SAXV could even have lost once again on its own meadow, if Ben Botica had not passed his two kicks between the posts. A zero result which probably does not suit anyone, but with which the people of Aix will be able to be satisfied, the Angoumoisins will quickly have to redress the situation on their own battlefield.

The only consolation for the Angoumoisins is that the next match will be played in , which may reassure them.

The good operation of the evening: , a derby with all bonuses

A derby cannot be played, it must be won, but it’s even better with the bonus in your pocket. Going through all the emotions, the Grenoblois could have lost everything in a match where they took time to get the measure of the valiant Drôme, trailing by just one point at the break. It was first a try from Mattéo Rodor which was canceled for a forward, then the drop from Lucas Méret, which brought his team to a point, which made the Grenoblois tremble.

But the Isérois have experience and they showed it, passing no less than three tries to the Drômois in the last 15 minutes. A double from Giorgi Javakhia then a raid from Gerswin Mouton which finally gave them a big victory and even the offensive bonus point, enough to get you started again after the trip to . The VRDR leaves without points and above all last in the championship.

Max Clément, the young opener from Grenoble, put in a great performance against VRDR.

The test of the evening: one Jaminet can hide another

In , and in professional rugby in general, one Jaminet can hide another! Tonight, in the spotlight: Dylan Jaminet, the youngest of the three brothers. The USON fullback scored a magnificent try against ASBH. While his team was trailing 10 to 3, the 22-year-old full-back – who took advantage of the departure of his eldest (Kylian) to Biarritz to become a starter in the three-quarter line – had fun with the entire opposing defense to allow his team to get back together in this tight match.

In the 27th minute, number 15 collected the ball on his 22-yard line and read the play perfectly, choosing to play a short kick over the top for himself. A profitable choice, because after a favorable rebound, the ball returned to his arms, and at full speed, he surprised the three Béziers defenders including the experienced Samuel Marques, who could only sigh as he saw the full-back flatten between the posts . An impressive 80 meter race for one of the tests, certainly, of this 6th day of Pro D2, synonymous with a precious victory for Nevers, winner of Béziers by five small points (28-23)…

The highlight of the evening: – Colomiers, an orange-yellow match

When you are told a tough match, you think of a tough, suspenseful encounter, vigorous contacts, high-performance carried balls or even a final action at the siren deciding the fate of the game. You are right, all you need is the indiscipline to understand everything about this Oyo – Colomiers. To put it simply, the referee of the match Mr. Noirot had his work done this Friday evening during the 6th day of Pro D2 by distributing 6 yellow cards, including 4 to the visitors!

We will remember the sixth and final toast, the one given to Kevin Kornath in the 49th minute. The third row of Oyonnax was guilty of a bad move on Rodrigo Marta after a ruck where the Columérin attempted (unsuccessfully) a clearance which strongly resembled a “crocodile hold” or “croc-roll”. The former , probably very annoyed by his opponent’s gesture, then wiped his crampons on the three-quarter center and could consider himself lucky to escape the red card.

This meeting, marked by the indiscipline of the two teams, finally smiled on the Oyomen, who without reassuring themselves pocketed four important points against one of the teams in form of this first championship block (21-17).

The awakening of the evening: the USM with pride

The atmosphere will remain good in Sapiac, but the USM got out of a real trap Friday evening against Aurillac. Johan Snyman’s men were trailing 17 to 3 after 50 minutes of play, and for a long time, we believed that the Montalbanais’ first more than interesting block was going to be spoiled by a surprise defeat at home. It didn’t happen, thanks to a clear reaction of pride in the last thirty minutes, in line with the good entry of Thomas Fortunel, recent centurion of the club.

In short, the Sapiacais woke up thanks to four tries from Firmin, Esppeut, Kanika and Quercy, and could even have won the offensive bonus in the last minutes. This success (31-20) allows to take second place in the ranking, behind the new Brivist leader, and above all to confirm a dream start to the season after years of hardship where smiles had fled the city of Ingres…

The gesture of the evening: Erwan Dridi honors his footballing family

The new leader of Pro D2 is called CA Brive! A big victory full of control and ease against Biarritz offers Coujoux this first place at the end of the 6th day, certainly honorary at this stage of the season, but no less important when we know the ambitions of Corrèze.

One gesture particularly marked this last meeting of the day: the magnificent footballing attitude of Erwan Dridi, the CAB winger, on the locals’ second try in the first period. After a play at the foot of his fullback Stuart Olding, the offseason recruit performed a magic pigeon wing to take the ball after a wayward bounce before seeing the ball fall into his hands. After showing his football talents – a nice tribute to his father, a football coach, which shows that there is never a chance – Erwan Dridi affirmed his rugby skills by resisting the last two Biarritz defenders. When we tell you that the Pro D2 is great!
