An oil tanker caught fire this Friday, October 11 in the Baltic Sea, off the port of Rostock in Germany, announced local emergency services who rescued the seven sailors who were on board. According to the Central Maritime Emergency Command, the German-flagged ship Annika is carrying around 640 tonnes of oil.

The seven sailors on board “were recovered” by the crew of a rescue boat and “are being brought ashore”specifies Central Command. Rescue “started to fight the fire from the outside” from three other ships arriving in the area, and will be assisted by “several fire crews” transported by helicopter, specifies the same source.

The German tanker is located in the Bay of Mecklenburg, northeast of Germany, between two locations northwest of the port of Rostock. “It is anchored and is also connected to a tugboat”specifies the command.
