The young socialist movement “Faucons Rouges” has allegedly embezzled significant sums since 2009: here is the amount estimated by the Liège public prosecutor’s office

We told you about it on Wednesday evening: searches took place at the headquarters of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Brussels and at the headquarters of the Red Falcons in Huy. Several million euros would have been embezzled. The exact sum: almost 4.2 million euros, according to the prosecution.

The Red Falcons, a socialist youth movement, are in the crosshairs of justice. Several sources confirm that searches took place this Wednesday at the headquarters of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation as well as at the headquarters of the Red Falcons in Huy and at the homes of several suspects. They allegedly used false documents to obtain higher subsidies. This would have lasted for years, since 2009. The total, according to the Liège public prosecutor’s office which confirmed the information to us this Thursday, is close to 4.2 million euros.

Four people were reportedly questioned by the police and deprived of their liberty. The federal judicial police of Liège are in charge of the case. There is suspicion of subsidy fraud. Contacted, Minister-President Élisabeth Degryse confirmed, Wednesday evening, that the searches had been carried out and indicated that the ministry was fully collaborating in the investigation.
