Around twenty firefighters were dispatched to station this Thursday around 3 p.m. for smoke on the engine of the Thalys Strasbourg – Brussels train.

The train in question is a special train chartered by the European Parliament to allow staff from Brussels to travel back and forth for plenary sessions. It mainly transports parliamentary assistants and civil servants.

The agents took the passengers off for safety reasons and the platform was evacuated as a precaution, emergency services said.

The incident was brought under control around 4 p.m. The train will be able to leave
