Around twenty firefighters were dispatched to Strasbourg station this Thursday around 3 p.m. for smoke on the engine of the Thalys Strasbourg – Brussels train.
The train in question is a special train chartered by the European Parliament to allow staff from Brussels to travel back and forth for plenary sessions. It mainly transports parliamentary assistants and civil servants.
The agents took the passengers off for safety reasons and the platform was evacuated as a precaution, emergency services said.

This incident caused traffic difficulties across the entire rail network departing from and arriving in Strasbourg. The end of the disturbances is announced for 6 p.m.
