On X, Arsène Lupine broadcasts some of the characteristics of the ROG Ally X, but above all its price. And it is revised upwards.

If Asus made its ROG Ally X official last week, it will not be presented until June 2. So he kept a few details under wraps, including its price.

The first ROG Ally was put on the market at $699 (799 euros in France) in AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme configuration. A less expensive version equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z1 was offered at $599 (699 euros in France).

On https://twitter.com/MysteryLupin/status/1789672436918538420 today we learn that the ROG Ally would be launched at 799 dollars in AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme. It does not specify the price of the base version in Ryzen Z1.

Therefore, the ROG Ally X would be 100 dollars more expensive than the equivalent ROG Ally. Based on the rule of three, the ROG Ally X would cost us around 900 euros.

What do you get for 100 dollars more?

What will we get for this price? Well Asus promises significantly increased autonomy, ensuring that they “are not aiming for 30 or 40% more capacity, but much more than that”. In addition, the storage would be increased, going from 512 GB to 1 TB – at least on the Z1 Extreme version – and would replace its expansion port with a more common M2 2280. Heavier to accommodate its new battery, the ROG Ally

ROG Ally X or Legion Go?

For the rest, nothing should change. And that puts it in obvious competition with Lenovo’s Legion Go. This costs 899 euros in the 1 TB version, the price at which we expect the ROG Ally X. And for the same amount, we are entitled to a much more qualitative screen. Lenovo has opted for an 8.8-inch LCD in 2560 x 1600 pixels and 144 Hz. The ROG Ally X, for its part, recycles the panel of its big sister, a 7-inch LCD model in Full HD and 120 Hz.

Everything will undoubtedly come down to autonomy. As said above, Asus would have pulled out all the stops. At Lenovo, our tests were a little over an hour of gaming in performance mode. It’s the same on the current ROG Ally. We can therefore expect much better from its little sister.

And for those who spend less, remember that the ROG Ally 2023 will remain in the catalog. It has already seen its price drop over time and is currently sold at 499 euros for AMD Ryzen Z1. Nothing says that Asus won’t sell it off a little more with the release of the ROG Ally X.
