The Ramed system, currently AMO Tadamon regime, has never recorded 18 million beneficiaries. This system had between 10 and 11 million beneficiaries and the cumulative calculation of beneficiaries from 2005 to 2022 results in 18 million, said government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas.

During the weekly press briefing following the government council, the delegate minister, who reacted implicitly to the offensives of the PJD concerning the exclusion of large sections of citizens from the AMO Tadamon, stressed that the government automatically passed people registered with Ramed, whose number is between 10.5 and 11 million, at AMO Tadamon.

Mustapha Baitas also specified that the government is responsible for paying the contributions of these categories of people to the CNSS, with an annual budget of 9.5 billion dirhams.

The minister also underlined that the government’s current approach consists of developing social policies according to the criterion of merit, that is to say in favor of people who need targeted direct aid or medical coverage, specifying that with the AMO Tadamon program, people who could benefit from free care in public hospitals will continue to benefit from it, while also having the possibility of receiving treatment in private health establishments.

Social assistance affects 300,000 families supported by widows

As for social assistance for widows, which is also the subject of criticism from the PJD towards the government, the government spokesperson said that 300,000 families supported by widows currently benefit from it. , and not just 76,000 widows. “What we are currently saying in this regard has no basis”he said.

Housing aid: the government considers it more judicious to grant it directly to citizens

Regarding housing assistance, Mustapha Baitas said that the government noted that if the previous system was suitable at a given time, it is no longer suitable now for a number of considerations. “Citizens today need to see for themselves the support provided by the state in this sector. Then, this aid must be used to promote this sector, which creates jobs and generates wealth”he said.

In addition, the minister revealed that data collected as of Thursday, May 23 shows that 73,711 applications for housing assistance have been submitted. “90% of these requests meet the criteria required to benefit from assistance”indicated the minister.

Mustapha Baitas also noted that 57% of people who have benefited from housing assistance to date had acquired housing whose price was between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams.
