A worker in his thirties died from his injuries after a work accident that occurred on Tuesday noon on a road construction site in Saint-Gervais, in Bellechasse.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the work accident occurred on the 2e Rank. Work to repair a culvert was in progress according to the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST).

A block of concrete would have crushed the worker, specifies the CNESST. The man was transported to the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis where he was pronounced dead, indicates the SQ.

Investigators went to the site, as did inspectors from the CNESST who collect information from witnesses.

The SQ and the CNESST conduct the investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of the work accident.

The portion of the row where the accident occurred is closed to traffic. A detour is in place.
