Saturday October 5 was the day dedicated to Pink October, also called Pink day, with a number of activities for everyone to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
This day was organized by Marie-Pierre Tronc, municipal assistant and Marjolaine Laffite, of the eponymous pharmacy. Many associations were present at Blachère Park.
Sports workshops have been set up such as walks, walks, Nordic walking, running, etc. An introduction to body karate took place with ALB Karate as well as demonstrations of handball (BHNM) and tennis (ASB).
Show workshops were presented with the baby-children, singers in English, from the ALB language section. The singers of the Si on chantait choir performed several songs, before giving way to a flash mob with dancing. The Joyeux cabots performed dog demonstrations.
Funds donated to the cancer institute
Children have not been forgotten with a few activities, notably the bouncy castle or the pony ride as well as an escape game carried out by the Les Détectives de l’Histoire association. Then came the highlight of the day: the photo challenge. Last year, around three hundred people came to take on the challenge in the municipal park. This year, the record was largely broken, because five hundred people, most of them wearing a pink t-shirt, item of clothing or object, participated to take on this challenge.
All these activities made it possible to raise funds which will be given to Marjolaine Lafitte on October 30 at 6 p.m. and will be paid to the Nîmes Cancer Institute in order to finance supportive care. At the same time, the sums collected from the sale of mugs and umbrellas will be donated to the Montpellier Cancer Institute for research and new therapies.
