The Syrian defense ministry reported at least seven civilians killed in the Israeli strike Tuesday evening in Damascus. “The Israeli enemy launched an aerial assault targeting a residential and commercial building in the densely populated Mazzeh neighborhood, killing seven civilians, including women and children”said a press release from the ministry specifying that rescuers continued to look for survivors.

For its part, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), based in London and with a vast network of correspondents in the country, reported nine deaths, including five civilians, in a new report. According to this NGO, the strike targeted “a building frequented by senior leaders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards [l’armée idéologique de la République islamique] and members of Lebanese Hezbollah, as well as a car parked in front of the building”. According to this organization, at least two of those killed were not Syrian, but it did not specify their nationalities. The strike hit the upscale Mazzé district, home to diplomatic missions and UN offices.
