“It is not insignificant to resume the championship for the players and for all those who follow the Chamois Niortais directly or indirectly”confirms Damien Charron. The coach must nevertheless adapt to a squad in perpetual motion between those who have left, those who were on trial this week and those who are leaving. “I can’t blame them, the situation is complicated for them too”he admits.
“We also have to think about the U17s”
On this October 4 at the beginning of the afternoon, Damien Charron “had not yet finalized the composition of his group. We will see how things evolve until the last moment, but we will have a team”. We must also take into account the trip of the national U17s to Cholet, that same day. “It’s also an important match for them, we must not weaken them too much. We need to find the right balance”adds the coach.
However, against contrary winds and tides, the Chamois Niortais achieved a flawless performance in official matches with two victories in the French Cup. They will know their fifth round opponent on Monday October 7. “We’ll see, it’s a great opportunity for our young people to meet a big team”continues Damien Charron. Another small brightening in a very dark sky since May 20 and the announcement of the sale of the club, even if it will be necessary to move forward quickly on structuring and solid projects for the future of the association.
Supporters are mobilizing
At René-Gaillard on Saturday, the stands could be well-stocked, even for a Regional 3 match. Niort 1925 supporters launched a call for mobilization on Thursday, October 3 evening during the first championship match, for which entry will be free.

Following our request concerning the situation of the Chamois Niortais after the press briefing by Guy Fleurquin, president of the association, the communications department of the Town Hall told us that “in view of the files worked and the contacts in progress, a communication from the Mayor/President will be carried out within a fortnight on the future of the Niortais Chamois”.
