1,180 authors at the Book Fair

Since Monday, Le Mans has been celebrating reading as part of Fait Lire. Highlight of the event, the literary salon will welcome 180 authors this weekend.

Among the guests: Mélissa Da Costa, Gilles Legardinier, Alice Zeniter and Claire Norton. Please note, some are only present on Saturday or Sunday. All the information via this link.

2. Old book fair and children’s book fair

A show solely dedicated to old books takes up residence Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in rue Jankowski.

On the youth side, a bourse to books is organized on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Bolton and Marchande streets.

3. Manga is also in the spotlight

A space dedicated to manga can be found at Place de la République with entertainment.

  • Saturday: presentation of mangaka series (11:30 a.m.), quiz manga with goodies to win (3:15 p.m.), drawing workshop manga for adolescents and adults by Nao Yazawa on the basics of manga (4 p.m.), live drawing by Alexis Tallone and Romaine Lemaire (5 p.m.).
  • Sunday: manga drawing workshop by Eruthoth on emotions and expressions (11 a.m.), presentation of the mangakas’ series (11:50 a.m.), manga quiz (2:15 p.m.), drawing battle between Yoann Le Scoul and the guests (3:15 p.m.), blind test with anime music (16h30).

4.Events will punctuate the book street

During the weekend, many activities will be on the program in the pedestrian streets between Place des Jacobins and Place de la République.

Street theater, readings and workshops will be organized around the theme “Women, science and inspiration”.

5.A mentalism show

The Square des Ursulines will host an interactive show of magic and mentalism proposed by Elfia as part of Fait Lire. Humor and illusions will be there.

  • Saturday at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Sunday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

6.Medieval atmosphere in Yvré-l’Evêque

This weekend, the European horse center of Yvré-l’Evêque is hosting the 2nd edition of Medieval Throne: a festival which offers a dive into the heart of Middle Ages but also in the Gothic, magical or even Viking universe.

Demonstrations of medieval devices and sword fights are on the program and three actors from the series Kaamelott will even be present during the weekend!

7.A fresco painted live in Tessé Park

As part of the MUR Plein Champ project, a new fresco will be performed live this Sunday, on a wall placed in front of the Tessé museum.

This time, it’s the pair Strawberry Mojitoguest during the last edition of Plein Champ, who will be in charge.

8.All march against cancer

A charity walk “All on the march against cancer” will be held this Sunday at the Arche de la Nature (Verger car park).

Organized by the Sarthe Cancer League, the event plans departures at 10 a.m. for hikes of 5, 7 and 10 kilometers in Nordic walking, running or PRM hiking. At 2:30 p.m., it will be the turn of the family hikes.

9.Find the markers in Allonnes

And orientation course is organized this Saturday from 2:30 p.m. in Allonnes. In a forest and urban setting, you will have to go in search of tags for a distance of approximately 5 kilometers (walking or running).

The event is part of the Mental Health Information Weeks at the EPSM de la Sarthe and aims to raise public awareness on this subject.

Open to all. Saturday afternoon, in front of the EPSM de la Sarthe. Free test upon registration.

10.50 years of the reading house in Coulaines

In Coulaines, the reading house is blowing out its 50 candles and offering open days this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the occasion.

A fair comic books, novels and children’s books are planned as well as games and exhibitions on the history of the library and the work of volunteers.
