Volleyball – N2M (last day). For Lescar, the big party hoped for did not take place

The hoped-for party did not take place. Or rather, it tasted bitter. The fault of Charenton who spoiled the enormous pleasure that the Lescariens would have had playing the match of the climb, in the room where they are undefeated this season.

Indeed Charenton did what was necessary on Saturday evening in Niort. By winning 3-0, the Ile-de-France residents were assured of finishing on top. They thus folded the championship, whatever the result of Sunday’s match at Lescar.

In these conditions, the two teams did not necessarily have a furious desire to fight, but Lescar still had an invincibility to confirm against the bottom of the ranking and a public, once again numerous, to thank.

The team showed it in the first set by taking the upper hand in attack, thanks to its two centrals, Germain and Magomayev, kings of the net, well helped by Augé at the point.

Celebrated despite everything

The score rises quickly and Lescar takes off: 10-6, then 17-11 and the round is quickly completed 25-14. The next one will be the most contested, the two teams remaining neck and neck until 18, but it is the locals who place the final acceleration to conclude with superior control (25-22) and lead 2-0.

It remains to finish the work and put an end to this magnificent season and the third and final set will be sent on the same mark as the first.

Lescar therefore ends up tied on points, 47, with the team that will move up and with the same number of victories (16 out of 20). A better difference in points during direct confrontations and a favorable set-average over the entire season will have tipped the scales towards Charenton. Enough obviously to nourish immense regrets for the valiant Lescariens who consoled themselves with their supporters at the end of the match during a well-deserved ceremony in their honor.
