What happens to Jordan Lukaku? While his brother Romelu is shining in Italy, Jordan is currently going through a more difficult period. At a young age, he had a bright future ahead of him, but he currently plays in the Turkish second division.

Jordan Lukaku started very young, following in the footsteps of his big brother Romelu, at RSC Anderlecht. The left-back then moved to KV Ostend before finally being sold for four million euros to Lazio. The Romans then loaned him to Antwerp for a season.

Loans in Italy, Spain and transfer to Turkish D2

However, since the COVID pandemic, Lukaku’s career has faced some difficulties. He had loan spells at Vicenza in Italy and Ponferradina in Spain, before finding himself without a club for a few months.

At Adanaspor in Türkiye, he had the chance to get back on track last season. He has appeared in sixteen matches in Turkey’s second division, but since March he has played just three minutes in two short substitute appearances.

This season he has not played for the Turks again. “I already have a long career of thirteen years behind me, but I certainly don’t want to stop and I want to take on a new challenge,” Lukaku himself told Pickx Sports.

“It won’t happen in the Turkish second division. I would like to leave Turkey, preferably to return to Belgium. But first, I will try to see if I can leave my current club.”

An option for Belgian teams?

Jordan Lukaku still has one year of contract in Türkiye. He could try to free himself in the coming weeks so he can join his country for free, as the transfer market is currently closed.

Otherwise, Lukaku could also be an interesting option for interested clubs during the next winter transfer window. A left-footed full-back is always an interesting profile. Anderlecht’s prospects are currently at the bottom of the Challenger Pro League standings, where an experienced player could potentially make a contribution…
