A wine grower dies after a sprayer explodes near

A 65-year-old winemaker died of a heart attack on Friday September 27 in Villers-Franqueux (). He had just suffered an explosion after mixing two products in a sprayer. An examination of the body was requested by the prosecution.

A winegrower died on Friday September 27, 2024 at his workplace, in Villers-Franqueux, in Marne. The 65-year-old man was the victim of an explosion while handling a sprayer, report our colleagues at L’Union .

The winemaker was mixing detergent and hydrogen peroxide when the top of the device exploded. The sixty-year-old was hit in the ribs and his thumb was torn off. While his injuries were not fatal in themselves, the man subsequently collapsed. He had a heart attack.

An autopsy requested by the prosecution

An investigation was opened by the gendarmes and the prosecution ordered an examination of the body to determine the exact causes of death. The local daily recalls that a 19-year-old young woman died the day before in the town of Verneuil. This grape harvester was also the victim of a fatal illness. Emergency services were unable to resuscitate her.
