“It’s pure joy,” said LeBron James on Monday, who now trains with his son Bronny, before soon playing with him on the NBA courts with the Los Angeles Lakers.
“It’s anticipation, pure joy, honestly, coming to practice every day, working hard with him and continuing to see him improve. He pushes me, I push him, we push our teammates. “It’s a very joyful moment not only for me but for our family,” declared the “King” at a press conference before the NBA resumed at the end of October.
LeBron James, basketball legend four times NBA champion, will begin his 22nd NBA season at the age of 39, and form with his son Bronny, who will celebrate his 20th birthday on Sunday, the first father-son duo on the same floor in the northern professional league -American.
“Our family is just very proud of him,” LeBron added of Bronny. “We’ll see if we have some opportunities to share the floor during the season. Obviously it will be incredible. We can’t wait for this moment, but then we will just move forward,” he continued while his son could spend a good part of the year in the G League (NBA development championship).
Asked about his relationship with his son at the family home, “at our ages we no longer have that much daily interaction,” summarized the father.
“He goes down to eat, goes back to his room, plays on the console. We’re downstairs with my wife, watching a movie. We no longer really have daily meetings to discuss our work for the next day. He’s been immersed in basketball since he was born, he understands its nuances, now he’s a man, it’s time for him to learn (on his part).”
Olympic champion for the third time this summer in Paris, James is “not exhausted like last time”, after London in 2012.
“I feel great. I had a great summer. I feel very good physically, sharp, fresh, eager to return to work tomorrow (Tuesday).”
