The young man, aged 18 at the time of the incident, was placed under arrest following the tragedy. He does not contest the facts and the fight, the origin of which remains unclear.

Still detained, he appeared before the indictment chamber on Thursday morning. His lawyer argued for detention under electronic surveillance. The indictment chamber decided to keep him in prison.

At the victim’s house

The two men knew each other since the alleged perpetrator is none other than a former student of the professor, Julien Grégoire. They met at a party before going to the victim’s home.

According to his lawyer, Franck Discepoli, something happened that caused the young man to go on a murderous rampage.Thomas found himself in a situation he didn’t expect and the file reveals that. There were totally inappropriate gestures towards him, from a 44-year-old to an 18-year-old. And I think that was the trigger for something. It wasn’t just alcohol, euphoria or whatever that started it all… There must have been something that deeply shocked him.“, the lawyer confided to our colleagues at RTL at the time.

The suspect’s parents were informed of the tragedy after the incident, allowing the police to arrive quickly on the scene.

The investigation continues. A new request for a bracelet will be made at the next appearance before the council chamber.
