MISCELLANEOUS – A first arrest. The discovery on Saturday of the buried body of a student had launched a vast police operation to find the perpetrator of the murder committed in the Bois de Boulogne, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. And this Tuesday, September 24, the investigation has already passed an important first stage.

Three days after the macabre discovery of Philippine, a 19-year-old student at Paris-Dauphine University, a 22-year-old man suspected of killing her was arrested by Swiss police in Geneva, according to concordant information from BFMTV and Europe 1.

The suspect was arrested under an arrest warrant at Geneva train station. According to the Actu17 website, he will immediately be placed in provisional detention, pending an extradition request by the French authorities to Switzerland.

Under an OQTF

Information on the young suspect arrested is scant at this stage of the investigation. However, The Parisian indicates that this man would be a Moroccan national, already known to the French justice system for a rape committed in 2019. He had been sentenced to seven years in prison for this, before benefiting from automatic sentence reductions which significantly shortened his prison stay. However, he had been registered as a sex offender, with house arrest.

According to Europe 1 And Actu17he was also subject to an OQTF, an obligation to leave French territory, as well as a search form linked to this OQTF.

On Saturday afternoon, a search in the Bois de Boulogne led to the exhumation of the body of the young woman, whose relatives had had no news since the day before. She had been seen at a lunch at the Crous of Paris-Dauphine University before disappearing. And according to the first results of the autopsy, revealed by Le Parisien, the student died of asphyxiation. A term often used, as the newspaper notes, in cases of strangulation.

Since then, sources from several media outlets cited earlier indicated that the DNA of the suspect arrested on Tuesday had been found at the crime scene.
