It was created in May 2023. Since then, the Ecoloisirs de la Varenne association has been working to prepare a future for the lower Varenne valley from Arques-la-Bataille (Seine-Maritime) to Saint-Aubin-le-Cauf.
She wants this unique territory in the Dieppe region to be a natural leisure area that respects the calm and richness of the fauna and flora.
She wishes that the Varenne nautical base remains in the public domain and not be transferred to a private developer as decided by the owner’s union.
Cornered by debts, he has just signed a sales agreement with the K2 company who wants to make it a tourist destination.
Preserve the calm of the place
The Ecoloisirs de la Varenne association, on the contrary, wishes to preserve the serenity of this place while ensuring its accessibility to all.
His project thus preserves the associative nautical activities on the base, fun and festive activities on the Arques basin, nature discovery leisure activities on the entire site. Fishing and hunting are also maintained.
The old swimming pool, the Varenne house and all the buildings have also been taken into account for new development.
A demonstration on Saturday September 21
As part of the Heritage Days, the association is organizing a demonstration “Save the Varenne base” this Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 3 p.m.
It will take the form of a stroll from the parking lot of the Arques-la-Bataille sports hall to the Varenne nautical base. It will be punctuated by a photographic exhibition.
Speeches will present the wealth of the site, the situation of the sale of the nautical base and the project of the Ecoloisirs de la Varenne association.
