However, if the first opus was appreciated by critics and fans, the second part quickly became one of the most hated films of 2014, whether by admirers of Marvel and Spider-Man, or quite simply the press, who found that the scenario was flat and that this latest work did not live up to the previous one, nor to the universe that Sony wanted to create.

The cessation of production of the third opus actually has little to do with the negative feedback, nor Andrew Garfield himself. It all happened in November 2014, when the American studio Sony was the victim of a massive hack of its data.
At the end of the year, the company suffered a computer attack when hackers, known as Guardian of Piece, infiltrated team computers and demanded the deletion of The killer interview! : « We obtained all your internal data, including secrets. If you do not comply, we will reveal this data. You have until November 24 at 11 p.m. to decide. » Of course, Sony did not respond to this threat. Thus, only a few days later, the criminals broadcast five unreleased films on illegal streaming sites: Annie, Mr. Turner, Still Alice et Fury with Brad Pitt.
After this disaster, Sony has therefore decided to withdraw The Amazing Spider-Man 3 of his calendar outings and preferred to start from scratch, returning Andrew Garfield. This event also occurred at the same time as the start of the agreements between Marvel and Disney, who wanted to join forces with FOX.
