Cartoonist Patricia Lyfoung, author of the series “La Rose écarlate” and “Les Mythics”, died at 47

Author of around sixty titles, she was expected at the next Angoulême Comics Festival which starts on January 29.

Comic strip author Patricia Lyfoung died Wednesday at the age of 47, announced her publisher, Delcourt, without specifying the causes of her disappearance.

This French author of Laotian origin was known for her style mixing European and Japanese influences, in the series The Scarlet Rose et Les Mythics.

“The Delcourt group learned with deep sadness of the disappearance of Patricia Lyfoung which occurred today, January 15, at the age of 47”indicates the press release.

Its editor praised “an exceptional artist, endowed with a rare talent for telling stories that transcend ages and cultures”.

Born in Villeneuve-la-Garenne in 1977, the cartoonist trained in drawing at the Gobelins school. After a few years spent in animation, she launched into comics. “It's while watching the cartoon Lady Oscar that his passion for costumes and romantic stories was born” recalls on its site, its publisher Delcourt. She will choose manga as a mode of narration.

The author had collaborated with the specialized manga quarterly Coyote Mag who paid tribute to him in a message posted on pencil stroke (Who) had enchanted the beginnings of Coyote Mag“.

Patricia Lyfoung had signed “nearly 60 titles” since 2005, all at Delcourt, and was one of the many authors invited to the Angoulême International Comics Festival at the end of January.
