In the Seven to Eight broadcast last Sunday on TF1, the subject devoted to Anne, victim of a fake Brad Pitt scam, caused a lot of ink to flow. With cascading consequences, which forced the producer to come out of his reserve.

It’s a report that never ceases to arouse passionate reactions. Last Sunday, Seven to Eight dedicated a subject to a certain Anne, a 53-year-old interior designer, who was fooled on social networks by a chatterbox. For a year and a half, she was in fact persuaded to converse daily with the American actor Brad Pitt, who allegedly fell in love with her. The scammer(s) took the opportunity to ultimately extract no less than 830,000 euros from him under various pretexts and thanks to the use of artificial intelligence or photo montages. This story has been widely reported and mocked on social networks. in the hours that followed, so much so that on Monday, TF1 took the rare decision to remove the report from its replay.

Scammed out of 830,000 euros by a fake Brad Pitt, Anne blames Seven to Eight

This same Monday, Anne gave an interview to Guillaume Pley for the media Legend in which she said all the bad things she thought about the subject of Seven to Eight. “The journalist stayed for two days to interview me and he only remembered what he shouldn't remember; to sully my image – and it is only for the purpose of audience“, criticized the interior designer, who at the same time announced on Facebook her desire to “put on notice” the TF1 reporting magazine.

The documents were provided to us by Anne herself“: the boss of Seven to Eight (TF1) defends itself

Faced with this vehemence and Anne's string of reproaches, the producer and editorial director of Seven to EightPhilippe Pécoul, came out of silence. With our colleagues from Maghe assures that he is straight in his boots: “The documents that are produced are documents that were provided to us by Anne herself. Until proven otherwise, everything said in the report is true.. “Basically, we have nothing to take away from what was said in this report“, he adds, while specifying that to date, no document has been received by TF1 or the production company Elephant to confirm the formal notice mentioned by Anne. “She is presented as a victim and facts are reported. (…) Afterwards, Anne can attack us, of course, but to this day, until proven otherwise, I don't really see what there is to criticize about the work of our reporter. Everything said is true and is first said by her“.

It's not at all the substance of the report that bothered us“: why is the report on Anne and Brad Pitt no longer available in replay on TF1+?

Philippe Pécoul finally recalls that the decision to withdraw the report from the TF1+ replay was taken following Anne's request. “It often happens that reports are not liked – it's the law of the genre – and we are sometimes asked to remove reports from the replay but we don't do it. We only do this in situations like Anne's where we considered that it was necessary to protect the victim from what was happening since the broadcast. It was not at all the substance of the report that bothered us, it was the use that was made of it by the networks, and in particular against Anne“, details the producer who therefore assures that he acted to preserve his witness.
