With exactly one month to go before the NBA’s trade deadline, there could be a new and intriguing addition to the list of players who will be available on the trade market.

The Phoenix Suns have been expected by many to become legitimate championship contenders over the last two seasons after they gave up a ton of draft capital for Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal during the 2023 calendar year. But they’re in 12th place in the Western Conference with a 15-18 record, and it has become clear that their current setup simply won’t work.

Beal, one of their three stars, could get jettisoned in an attempt to fix what is ailing them, and he would reportedly waive his no-trade clause in order to get sent to the Los Angeles Lakers.

There have been rumors that the Suns are a potential destination for Miami Heat star forward Jimmy Butler and that Beal would be the main piece that would be used to make such a trade happen.

Beal would be an interesting trade target for the Lakers. He has long been a potent scorer and a capable secondary playmaker, but he doesn’t seem to be the type of true point guard or ball-handling guard they need. He is also 31 years of age, which means he won’t be around for long after LeBron James leaves.

Beal is also injury-prone. He has appeared in just 143 games over the previous three seasons, and he has already missed 10 games this season due to multiple ailments.

He will make a total of $50.3 million this season, and he has two more seasons left on his contract at $53.67 million and $57.1 million.
