The Fork, leader in online restaurant reservations in Europe, unveiled this Tuesday January 7 its second edition of the “annual Top 100 of the best restaurants in France”. Among the establishments that have marked its community in 2024, the first seven are Parisian.
From neighborhood restaurants to starred establishments and more confidential addresses… “This year again, a significant majority of tables are Parisian, with more than one in two restaurants located in the capital,” observes the reservation site.
Three Parisian addresses are a “favorite among the French” and take the top spots on the podium: Cellar – bistronomic restaurant from the 11th century -, Un Jour à Peyrassol – truffle bar from the 2nd century – and finally Le Quartier Latin – pizzeria of the 5th. The following four restaurants are also located in Paris: Grains Nobles et Plus… (5th), Signature Montmartre (18th), Madito (11th) and finally Marsan by chef Hélène Darroze (6th).
The ranking is based primarily on the millions of verified ratings and reviews from The Fork's foodie community, says the TripAdvisor company. It is updated each year according to “a strict set of eligibility criteria”: rating awarded, average price, number of reservations, verified reviews, etc.
“The Top 100 best restaurants 2024 celebrates the excellence and culinary diversity that make France shine. In the wake of the Games, our restaurateurs continue to seduce gourmets across the country by offering unique experiences,” says Damien Rodière, Managing Director of The Fork Western Europe.
The city most represented in the Top 100 behind Paris is Lyon (Rhône) with 9 establishments. The world capital of gastronomy is followed by Bordeaux (Gironde), the city with the highest density of restaurants per inhabitant (excluding Paris), with 6 establishments. The Fork also observes that its community of “foodies” demonstrates a particular attachment to the local culinary heritage since half of the top establishments offer French cuisine.
