Enzo Maresca has warned his side to expect a complicated game in their final match of 2024 against Ipswich on Monday night.
The Blues travel to Portman Road for the first time since 2002 looking to return to winning ways having drawn against Everton and lost to Fulham in their last two.
With Nottingham Forest beating Everton on Sunday the Blues have momentarily dropped to fourth place, although three points in Suffolk would see them move up to second.
Chelsea have fared well on their travels this season and their only defeat on the road came against Liverpool at the end of October.
Ipswich are struggling having won promotion last season and are currently 19th in the league, whilst they are still waiting for their first win at home.
Maresca knows the Tractor Boys well having been involved in a title race with them in the Championship last season, whilst he will be more than aware of Kieran McKenna’s strengths and weaknesses.
Maresca has warned Chelsea to expect a complicated game against McKenna’s men.
The league this season has shown that anyone is capable of taking points from anyone and Maresca has warned his side to expect a complicated game on Monday night.
“All the Premier League games are complicated, no matter who the other team is,” Maresca told Chelsea’s website.
“Every game we play is complicated, and you also see how you can struggle to beat teams. That’s because every match in the Premier League is difficult. The Ipswich game will be exactly the same.
