A project which came to fruition on Monday December 2, 2024, at the Vasles fire station, in the presence of Coralie Desnoues, president of the departmental council, and Colonel Thibaut Niderlender, director of the departmental fire and rescue service of Deux- Sèvres (Sdis 79).
This new barracks, the first stone of which will be laid on January 25, and which should be completed in early 2026, will be located next to the Vaslé hardware store.
A cost of more than 1.1 million euros
While the current barracks date from the 1970s, this new center will provide “ whatever is necessary, but only what is necessary “, specified the colonel and Claire Paulic, president of Sdis. In this case: changing rooms adapted to feminization, a training room for young firefighters (JSP), a specific ventilated room guaranteeing the safety of firefighters in the face of toxic smoke. The building will also be equipped with 180 m² of photovoltaic panels.
The total cost is estimated at €1,114,500. The Department will finance €500,000, Sdis for €406,873, the municipality of Vasles for €151,580 and €14,500 for the land. Neighboring communities as well. Philippe Albert, mayor of Vausseroux, who will contribute €12,572, welcomed “ the effort of the volunteer firefighters who have always been there, especially when we have experienced tragedies. » The Forges participation was set at €9,685. Saint-Martin-du-Fouilloux will participate for €19,290.
