After an excellent 2023-24 season, in which they won the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League titles, and lost only one game throughout the season, Real Madrid have had a fairly poor start to the current 2024-25 season.

Several key players have been sidelined with long-term injuries, including Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal, while others are also not playing at their best level consistently.

This had particularly been the case with the midfielder Jude Bellingham, who had an amazing first season with Real Madrid, in which he established himself as one of the stars of the team, and got 19 goals and 6 assists to his name in 28 La Liga matches, while also scoring another 4 goals and providing 5 assists in the UCL.

For various reasons, the Englishman had a rather underwhelming start to this season. Fatigue could have been a factor, as he played a lot last season, and also got very little rest in the summer as he had to play in the UEFA EURO 2024, in which he helped his team reach the final.

Similarly, Carlo Ancelotti has also been quite experimental with him and played him in different roles in the midfield and sometimes also on the wings. His poor form was clear from the fact that in his first 12 games this season, he was unable to open his scoring account.

But fortunately, things are turning out well for him lately, as he has now scored in his last three consecutive La Liga games, and also provided 2 assists in these three games.

He displayed particularly good form in the last night’s encounter with Getafe, as he scored a goal from the penalty spot and also gave an exquisite assist for Kylian Mbappe to double the Merengues lead on the night.

Unfortunately, he was unable to return from the half-time break as Carlo Ancelotti announced after the game that he was suffering from a problem with the neck after a collision with the Getafe goalkeeper David Soria.

But the first 45 minutes were enough for him to showcase his recovering form, as in addition to his goal and assist, Sofascore records that he also provided 1 key pass and recorded an overall 92% passing success rate by completing 24 of his 26 passes. Similarly, he also made 2 clearances and 1 tackle and won 4 of his 5 ground duels.

With his last three performances, Bellingham is showing that he is once again returning to the good scoring form that he displayed last season. Hopefully, he will continue to build on this performance after he returns to the field, and once again play a pivotal role in helping Real Madrid win more big trophies this season.
