Who could succeed Michel Barnier, removed by a motion of censure, voted on Wednesday December 4? Several names are circulating, and Emmanuel Macron should not delay in making his choice known.
Emmanuel Macron completed his visit to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday December 4, in the middle of the desert. For several days, the president has been playing sphinxes about his intentions for the future. For the head of state, who said he did not believe in censorship, there was only one plan B, the Barnier plan.
If he didn't say anything, those around him spoke for him. Some names come up, including those of Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of the Armed Forces, Bruno Retailleau, Minister of the Interior, François Bayrou, president of MoDem, and, possibly, the socialist Bernard Cazeneuve. In the National Assembly, few still believe in the rare bird: “I would like someone who is in the interest of France, like Michel Barnier was”says MP LR Marie-Christine Dalloz.
The only thing that is almost certain: without an Olympic truce, the president will not take long this time to appoint a successor to Michel Barnier.
