Media library at my reach is an event that takes place twice a month. It is intended for isolated seniors with reduced mobility. Since 2017, the media library in partnership with the CCAS (communal social action center) has offered members of the collective the creation of an original work, giving rise to a public performance.
“A kind of laboratory”
This year, the From the pen to the stage project is co-led by Mathilde Martinage from the professional theater company La Levée. To do this, she meets a group of participants at Médiathèque à ma reach, in the company of a musician, at the Little Dipper.
“It was the media library that contacted me, explains Mathilde Martinage, because our identity is to make theater with music. She wanted to build a project allowing participants to be immersed in creation by mixing music. These seniors, in a situation of isolation, have access once a week to an artist’s method of creation. Their reaction was very positive. »
The theme of the project revolves around the forest and logging. It is a story intended for elementary school children, which will be performed in music and song. “The preparation is done during sessions of around an hour and a half, every other week, during which we discuss and prepare their intervention. Through games, it is a sort of laboratory where participants tell their story. »
Some are visually impaired or even blind, and the main character is a little blind girl who lives in a landscape that is both forest and sea. Once the story is finished, a percussionist will come and set it to music.
