In his latest album, titled Life, love, etc.Michel Fugain declares his love for the city of Paris in a song. The artist, who will soon celebrate his 60th musical career, looks back on the reasons which pushed him to write this piece.
In full promotion for his latest album Life, love, etc.Michel Fugain does not seem ready to bow out. When asked if he still wants to write and sing, his answer is clear.
“Ah yes, still, it doesn’t go away. (…) Now, speaking of the album, I only want to go on stage and sing songs. But since we released this album, I know that I’m going to get back to work very, very quickly to make another album which will arrive (…),” he explains.
In his album, in particular, there is a question of a piece entitled Paris. But why this title? Is this a declaration of love?
The singer explains the reasons for this choice. “It is a declaration of love to a city which is no longer quite the same, but which I keep in memory, because I arrived in Paris in 1963. At the time, Paris was not yet a parking. We could park wherever we wanted, it was really good. There were no prohibitions (…),” explains Michel Fugain.
However, one thing particularly struck him about this city. Today, many people say they no longer like the French capital, a reaction he doesn’t understand.
“I noticed, by going online, that now we say ‘Paris, you stink’, the songs say ‘Paris, you stink’, ‘Paris, I love you more’. I wanted to deal with the eternal Paris, the one that tourists come to see“.
