Incredible footage captured the moment the'asteroid COWECP5 crossed the Earth's atmosphere above Siberia (Russia) this Tuesday, November 3. The space rock appeared in the sky at 11:14 p.m. local time (5:14 p.m. French time), a few hours after the European Space Agency raised the alarm.
u2604ufe0f Asteroid #C0WEPC5 (temporary designation) entered Earth’s atmosphere at 16:15 UTC/17:15 CET, creating a fireball over Yakutia witnessed by people in the region.
The object was discovered roughly 12 hours ago and is thought to have been around 70 cm across.

Witnesses published on social networks videos showing the asteroid crossing the night sky and exploding into a fireball before disappearing. The space rock exploded in stunning red light above the small town of Olekminsk, in the rRussian Siberian republic of Yakutia. These videos have been authenticated by the very serious press agency Associated Press, noted Euronews.
“A tail like that of a comet, a flash of lightning and rashes”
Yakutia's Ministry of Emergency Situations said all authorities in the region had been placed on alert as the asteroid approached, but noted thatno damage had not been reported after his fall. “Residents of the Olekminsk and Lensk districts were able to observe at night a tail like that of a comet, a flash of lightning and eruptions”, he indicated, according to comments reported by the Daily Mail.
