Free launches a new Freebox (but not the one you expect)

For its 25th anniversary, Free has decided to remember the good memories of geeks who are fans of RGB, customized PCs and transparent design. The ISP has decided to launch a limited version of its Freebox Ultra, entirely transparent and equipped with a configurable LED strip. The box takes on a red tint and it is possible to personalize the display via six different modes. At Free, we assure you that this transparent red shell is a reference to flagship products from the 90s such as the iMac or the Game Boy Color. Inside, we can see the internal components of the most powerful Freebox in the history of the Internet service provider.

As for the LED strip, Free does not hide its inspiration from the world of gaming. The approach is the same as on towers and peripherals (keyboards, mice, screens, etc.) with the possibility of controlling the lighting ambiance via the Freebox Connect application. The six animation modes are:

  • Static for constant light
  • Breathing for a pulsating effect
  • Rain for dynamic animation
  • Wave for a fluid effect
  • Organic for a natural ambiance
  • Chaser for sequential scrolling

And if you're not a fan of the light strip, it's always possible to deactivate it with one click. Finally, the French ISP is making an effort on the packaging which aims to be eco-responsible and which could help make this Freebox collector's item. “It’s red, it’s fun, and we hope that one day it will be a collector’s item!” »confie Free.

The same performance as the Freebox Ultra

A new design that does not go unnoticed for a Freebox that does not evolve technically. The Freebox Ultra is recent and is still one of the most advanced boxes available in . This Freebox Ultra Limited Edition benefits from the same characteristics as the classic version, starting with the performance offering symmetrical speeds of up to 8 Gbit/s and wifi 7.

This version also benefits from the same service offering, including Canal+ live, Netflix (Standard with advertising), Disney+ (Standard with advertising), Amazon Prime and Universal+.
