The Santo da Serra Golf Club (CGSS) is promoting the ‘CGSS Gala’ this Saturday, at the Pestana Casino Park Hotel, which brings together around 300 people, celebrating a full year for the Santo da Serra community.
Paulo Sousa, president of the institution, recalled that more than five thousand people participated in events promoted by the club throughout the year, including 1,500 children from the municipality of Machico, from deprived neighborhoods, with emphasis also on the inclusive nature of the initiatives, which covered people with motor difficulties, among others.
The director also highlighted the fact that from June onwards, there will be three flights per week from the United States of America, a destination that is seen as a “fantastic market”, with millions of practitioners, who will be able to disembark in the Region and experience the best destination emerging world in the practice of the sport.
Paulo Sousa also stressed that the investment in the sport, by the president of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, is correct, as “demonstrated by the fact that the golf industry has a growth forecast of around 70 percent in the near future”.
Proving this trend, the club president revealed that he had contacts with operators who are looking for existing signature courses in the Region and who also praise the quality of Madeira Wine.
It is also worth highlighting the tributes to Gilda Paredes Alves, Aurélio Tavares and Ricardo Cardoso, renowned personalities with an important role within the club and the respective golf community.
