Kennewick, WASH. – Wednesday is a First Alert Weather Day in the Cascades, Blue Foothills, and Blue Mountains, in particular before 10 AM. Damaging wind gusts are possible in the Blue Foothills and Blue Mountains between 45 – 55 MPH, if not stronger at times. In the Cascades, Tuesday night’s snowfall will continue to create hazardous driving conditions on passes for Wednesday morning. 3. Safety Tips

Safety message from NWS Pendleton in regard to the Blizzard Warning, in place for the eastern slopes of the Cascades above 2,000′ until 10 AM Wednesday:

“Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely

necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter

storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,

booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.

Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help

you survive in case you become stranded.”

Safety message from NWS Pendleton in regard to the Winter Storm Warning, in place for the eastern slopes of the Cascades below 2,000′ until 10 AM Wednesday:

“Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and

avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution

if you must drive.”

Safety message from NWS Pendleton in regard to the Wind Advisory, in place for the Lower Columbia Basin in Morrow and Umatilla counties until 10 AM Wednesday:

“Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high

profile vehicles. Use extra caution.”
