The police are looking for 34-year-old Dietse Michielsen from Wuustwezel, who disappeared on the night of Friday 15 to Saturday 16 November after a night out in the entertainment district of Ghent, the Vlasmarkt. Anyone with more information about the disappearance is asked to urgently contact the local police of Ghent.
Through camera images, the police found the man’s suspected route to his hotel. But that’s where all tracks stop for now. He left Café Charlatan around 4 o’clock in the morning and the last signal from his mobile phone was picked up at Baudelopark around 5 o’clock.
The police also made no progress through telephone investigations. The Ghent fire brigade conducted another search on Saturday in one of the inland waterways of Ghent. That search turned up nothing. The Missing Persons Unit will further record the file, including a search using sonar images.
“This is Dietse Michielsen, my close colleague with whom I work every day. He did not come home after a weekend in Ghent,” writes a colleague of Dietse Michielsen on Facebook. “He will be a dad again, of a second child. He’s missing. If you have any information, please share it. His colleagues, family and friends are concerned about him.”
Witnesses or people with information are urgently requested to contact the local police of Ghent.
