Victor Wembanyama has a hot hand at the moment. Two days after scoring 34 points, the French basketball player compiled 50 points for the first time in his career, Wednesday, November 13, during the San Antonio Spurs' victory against the Washington Wizards (139-130).
At 20 years and 314 days, Wembanyama, whose previous personal best was 40 points, is only the fourth youngest player to reach this plateau in the NBA, behind Brandon Jennings (20 years and 52 days in 2009), LeBron James (20 years and 80 days in 2005) and Devin Booker (20 years and 145 days in 2017).
To establish this performance, the Frenchman showed great 3-point skill with eight successful shots out of sixteen attempted, also setting a career record. This is the third game in a row in which he scored at least six three-pointers, allowing San Antonio to win its second consecutive victory and post a balanced record (six wins and six losses).

Another Frenchman also stood out during this meeting: Alexandre Sarr, author of 12 points, managed to block a shot from his compatriot in the second quarter, and even performed a dunk on the French giant in the following period.
But it was Wembanyama who had the last word with a phenomenal third quarter: 19 points scored thanks to 7 out of 7 shooting (including 4 out of 4 from long distance), as well as four rebounds, an assist and a cons.
“This is truly an important step. declared the Frenchman at the end of the meeting. It’s sort of a private club, and that’s obviously something I’m proud of. »

But to beat the record for points in a match by a Spurs player, Victor Wembanyama will have to push the cursor much further: on April 24, 1994, Texan legend David Robinson scored 71 points against the Los Angeles Clippers.
