Already victorious in Levi in Finland in mid-November for the first slalom of the winter, Clément Noël, the French Olympic champion doubled the lead on Sunday by beating the Swede Kristoffer Jakobsen (+ 43 hundredths) and the Norwegian Atle Lie Mcgrath (+ 44 hundredths). Noël initially flew through the first round, relegating the competition to almost a second. He then resisted in the second round despite a few errors to win and sign his 12th World Cup victory.
“It was hard for everyone”
“We all want to win and I knew that the competition was tough, so I am very happy with the victory, it was a real fight,” reacted Clément Noël after the race, at the microphone of the International Ski Federation. “It was hard for everyone, I was confident at the start but then I made mistakes (in the second round) so I didn't know if it was going to be enough to win,” he added.
At 27, the skier from Val d'Isère has two consecutive successes in the first two slaloms of the winter, having not won in the World Cup since January 2023. The men's alpine skiing World Cup is continues on December 6, 7 and 8 at Beaver Creek in the United States, where a downhill, a super-G and a giant are on the program.
