The NBA Emirates Cup in-season tournament kicks off Tuesday night
The highly anticipated NBA Emirates Cup is on the horizon as the in-season tournament kicks off Tuesday night. The 2024 Emirates NBA Cup schedule was already released last summer and now every team in the league is set to climb the ladder to claim their spot in the finals. The quarterfinals of the cup are scheduled for December 10 and 11. The semifinals will be held on December 14 and December 17 will decide this year’s champion.
Several teams in the league have already been in the race as they have been preparing for the cup bringing their top stars back before the tournament.
Cavaliers continued their undefeated streak defeating The Bulls
The Cleveland Cavaliers remain undefeated, defeating the Bulls 119-113 to add to their undefeated streak of 12-0. Donovan Mitchell scored a season-high 36 points as he led his team to a 119-113 win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. Now, they are the eighth NBA team to start a season 12-0.
Additionally, Darius Garland added 17 points and Evan Mobley contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds to the scoreboard. Cleveland has another record to their credit as they have scored 110 or more points for the 11th time this season. As for Chicago, Zach LaVine scored 26 points, and Coby White and Nikola Vucevic each added 20, however, the Bulls couldn’t hold their late third-quarter lead.
76ers’ top star Joel Embiid has a return update
It is no secret that Philadelphia 76ers has faced a series of setback but the team has finally got hold onto some good news as Joel Embiid is set to make his highly anticipated return to the 76ers this week. The 7-foot center has an Olympic gold medal to his credit alongside a contract extension. He is expected to provide a much-needed edge for Philadelphia as the team currently sits near the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 2-7 record. Embiid’s absence alongside the injuries to key players including Paul George and Tyrese Maxey have only added to the team’s struggles throughout the season. Now, The 76ers will a breathing room as Embiid’s return will help them regain their strength and confidence and push for a playoff spot.
The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Sacramento Kings
The San Antonio Spurs has claimed a glorious 116-96 win defeating Sacramento Kings. Victor Wembanyama delivered one of his finest performances adding 34 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 blocks which have proved to be most crucial to the game. He hit 13 of 22 shots from the field and 6 of 12 from beyond the arc.
As for San Antonio’s defense, it was inspired by Wembanyama who kept the Kings to 42.9% shooting overall and just 27% from three.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scores career high for Thunder against LA Clippers
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 134-128 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. The 26-year-old Canadian star scored a career-high 45 points in his first game of the season. Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a stunning performance shooting 13-of-21 from the field and nearly perfect from the free-throw line, hitting 15-of-16. Additionally, he dished out nine assists. His teammate, Jalen Williams contributed 28 points, while Lu Dort added 19 to the scoreboard.
