CMonday November 11 is the Armistice, not all services will be open, some businesses and services keep the curtains drawn.
Services
As usual on public holidays, banks will remain closed this Saturday, following the schedule of a normal weekend. Municipal administrations will all be closed. This is also the case for post offices but post points in local stores which will be open will still be accessible.
Pharmacies will also be closed: you will have to turn to on-call pharmacies, if necessary.
Supermarkets
Many supermarkets are closed and you have to head to the shops usually open on Sundays and public holidays to do your shopping. The Aldi, Lidl, Cora, Makro, Okay and Colruyt brands will notably be closed. However, certain Delhaize and Carrefour stores will be open this Saturday, following the hours of a usual Sunday. The list of open supermarkets is available on the respective websites of the two brands: Delhaize and Carrefour.
Some Spar stores will be open, it is necessary to check their opening hours on the brand’s website. This is also the case for most Match stores, which will open in the morning.
Public transportation
Like every year, November 11 gives rise to a ceremony in front of the Congress column to commemorate the end of the First World War. To ensure the smooth running of this commemoration, trams 92 and 93 are interrupted between Louise and Botanique until 12:30 p.m. and buses 29, 63, 65, 66 diverted.
