American track star Noah Lyles went head-to-head with YouTube star IShowSpeed in a high-energy 50-meter sprint, snagging a $100,000 prize from mega-streamer Mr. Beastwho added to the fun by playing referee in a striped uniform.
The 19-year-old IShowSpeed, real name Darren Watkins Jr., is no stranger to action-packed moments.
With 33 million YouTube followershe’s built a reputation for his athleticism, stunts, and connections with major athletes, including soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
After his victory, Lyles — who dominated at the Paris Olympics with gold in the 100m and bronze in the 200m despite running with COVID-19 — initially passed on a rematch.
But later, he gave IShowSpeed a challenge: “You should practice with me and then at the end of the week, we’ll race again.”
“You’ll be fasteryou’ll know what to do, you’ll have the techniques, you’ll have the advantage. And then we can run the real man’s race, the 100m.”
