A strike is planned in front of the Dumarey factory in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) on Friday November 8 from 6 a.m., France Bleu Alsace reported on Thursday.

The inter-union and the employees took this decision to try to obtain a better social plan while 248 job cuts were announced by the automotive supplier. During a rally on Thursday, they therefore decided to block the site indefinitely. They are demanding the establishment of a guarantee fund of 100 million euros and better dismissal conditions.

Several meetings have been organized between employee representatives and management since the announcement of the layoffs but “we have the impression that management is dragging its feet, does not want to negotiate anything, we are going around in circles”, regrets Malek Kirouane, workshop technician, CGT union delegate. “The problem is that on January 25, we will be made redundant. For the moment, what is proposed is really ridiculous for a company that has generated millions in profits.”

At the beginning of October, management announced the elimination of 248 positions, after the loss of their main client, the German ZF. Since then, a large majority of production has stopped but certain parts are still manufactured on site.
