LAST HOUR/ Maia Sandu’s first statements after the display of the preliminary results – Ziarul de Gardă

Maia Sandu makes the first press statements after the presidential elections and the constitutional referendum on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU. The acting president says there is evidence pointing to “unprecedented fraud”.

“Moldova today and in recent months faced an unprecedented attack on democracy. Criminal groups, together with foreign forces, hostile to our interests, have attacked our country with tens of millions of euros, lies and propaganda, with the most miserable means, to take us to an area of uncertainty and instability.

We have evidence and information that the target of the criminal group was to buy 300 thousand votes. The scale of the fraud is unprecedented. The aim was to compromise a democratic exercise. Their aim was to induce fear and panic in the society. We will not give up defending freedom and democracy.

We are waiting for the final results and will come back with decisions”, said Maia Sandu.

On October 3, Viorel Cernăuțeanu, HEAD of the General Police Inspectorate and Veronica Dragalin, head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, held a press briefing in which they announced that over 130 thousand citizens received money from the Russian Federation through voter corruption schemes set up by Ilan Şor and that only in September, the police documented transfers of over 15 million dollars from Moscow to Sor’s network in the Republic of Moldova. A refugee in Moscow, Shor reacted the same day, declaring that in reality, the scale of the money transfers and the number of people involved is much greater than that announced by the police and prosecutors.

For three months, Ziarul de Gardă documented from the inside with the help of a hidden camera how the money circulates and how the people who work for Ilan Şor are recruited and enticed, in the service of Moscow. The stake – hijacking the European course of the country by compromising the October 20 referendum and voting for a candidate supported by Şor.

Everything worked even on the day when the police and the prosecutor’s office announced that they had discovered the scheme by which about 130 thousand citizens of the Republic of Moldova were bribed for their vote on October 20, but also after the announcement of the legal authorities.
