United Cup > Draper in uncertainty: “I’m gutted because I was really looking forward to playing the United Cup for the first time”

Author of an exceptional year 2024 including a semi‐final at the US Open, the Briton Jack Draper will be eagerly awaited in 2025, being a serious candidate to seek a place among the best players in the world.

He was supposed to go to Spain to train with Carlos Alcaraz during the offseason, but it seems his demons are catching up with him, since he didn’t go, and especially had to withdraw from the United Cup, where he was registered with the British team. As he revealed on his Instagram account, it’s a real disappointment for him.

“As I work to heal from my hip injury and get back into shape, I have unfortunately been advised not to participate in the United Cup. Although we are very optimistic about my participation in the Australian Open this year, I know that I will not be able to jump straight into a busy schedule while I manage and strengthen my hip. I’m gutted because I was really looking forward to playing the United Cup for the first time. We have also made the difficult decision for me not to participate in the next Davis Cup match in Japan in order to give me the opportunity, after the Australian Open, to complete the rehabilitation and strengthening of my hip. »
