Poleman of the last Formula 2 round in Abu Dhabi, Victor Martins (ART GP) was at the top of the timesheet at the end of the three days of post-season testing on the Yas Marina circuit.
The day after the final Formula 1 tests, the Emirates autodrome was occupied by F2 single-seaters for three days of testing which foreshadows the 2025 season.
All the teams were on track with their future starters and a few candidates not yet appointed, eager to make their mark with the category and convince the decision-makers to hire them.
The elevator to F1
Formula 2 has regained color this year thanks to the promotions in the Grands Prix of Ollie Bearman, Kimi Antonelli, Gabriel Bortoleto and without forgetting Franco Colapinto or the next on the list, Isack Hadjar.
Seen in Formula 1 the day before at Aston Martin on the Yas Marina track, the American Jak Crawford (DAMS) was the fastest on the first day then his time was improved the next day by Josua Dürksen (AIX) and during the final day by F2 veteran Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) at the wheel of an all black car (photo above) ahead of rookies Alex Dunne (Rodin) and Dino Beganovic (Hitech GP).

Among other newcomers, the promising Briton Arvin Lindblad (Campos) will be promoted by Red Bull next year while Prema has confirmed its line-up composed of Gabriele Mini and Sebastian Montoya. Besides Martins who should return to ART Grand Prix alongside the Japanese Ritomo Miyata, another Frenchman will discover F2 in the person of Sami Meguetounif at Trident.
For his third season in Formula 2, Martins will aim for the title, like what Théo Pourchaire had achieved before him, wishing him a better fate after he was snubbed by Alpine for the position of third man in F1 for the benefit of Paul Aron while he is the leader of the Alpine Academy…
