While Netflix announced a few hours ago the upcoming release of a documentary dedicated to Rafael Nadal, simply titled “Rafa”, the latter took the floor to explain the genesis of this project. And listening to him, the man with 14 Roland‐Garros titles got a little carried away.
“I never thought I would do something like this. But I received a call from David Ellison (important American producer, editor’s note) and his words, combined with an extraordinary project that they presented to me, really convinced me that it was the right thing to do. Everyone will be able to see how my life went during my Tennis career and especially during the last year that I lived. I am sure that the final product, the documentary series, will be extraordinary and will be seen around the world. I thank David Ellison and his team at Skydance for creating this project and believing in it. To my family and my team for allowing me to be filmed last year, I know it hasn’t been easy for all of us. To my colleagues and peers who gave up their time to get in front of a camera for a while. And thanks to the tournaments around the world who made the job easier, it wasn’t easy. »
