The race for power continues in the world of chargers. At CES 2025, Ugreen is arriving with its new 500W charger, a real office powerhouse.
CES 2025 has its share of surprises in store for us, like the robot vacuum cleaner and its articulated arm that picks up shoes, and Ugreen is not left out. The accessories manufacturer has just unveiled two products: the Nexode 500W charger and the Revodok Max 2131 Thunderbolt 5 docking station.
The most impressive is undoubtedly, for me, this 500 W charger, a world first which pushes the limits of fast charging.
But why do you need such power? Imagine being able to power your MacBook Pro (140W), iPad Pro (100W), iPhone (30W), and all your other devices simultaneously without compromising on charging speed. This is now possible thanks to the six integrated ports, including five USB-C and one USB-A.
The on-board technology is equally impressive. The charger uses the latest Power Delivery 3.1 standard, allowing up to 240 W to be reached on a single USB-C port – enough to power the most demanding laptops. The other ports can deliver up to 100 W, automatically adapting their power according to the connected devices.
At the heart of this charger is GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology. Ugreen has integrated no less than six GaN chips, to obtain very good energy efficiency while maintaining a relatively compact size. This technology also allows better thermal management, essential when handling such powers.
Thunderbolt 5: finally!
The other star of the Ugreen stand is the Revodok Max 2131 docking station, one of the first to integrate Thunderbolt 5 technology.
With its three Thunderbolt 5 ports, it allows data transfers of up to 120 Gbit/s, twice as fast as the previous generation. This station will be perfectly compatible with Mac mini M4 and MacBook Pro M4 Pro/Max, providing a future-proof connectivity solution.
The station does not ignore traditional connectivity, integrating classic USB ports, an SD/TF card reader, an audio output and even a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port (a shame not to have 5 Gbps or even 10Gbps). It can also deliver up to 140W of power, enough to power most laptops.
Available from March 2025, these products will certainly not be cheap — we can expect a price higher than the €150 (discounted!) of the current 300 W model. But for demanding professionals and geeks, the investment might just be worth it.
