LG C5 and G5, Oled televisions ever brighter and with more AI for 2025

The LG G5, top of the range from the manufacturer.

CES, the tech event at the start of the year, is an opportunity for many manufacturers to unveil their new products for the year to come. LG is one of the first to emerge in 2025 with a host of and audio announcements, but above all a renewed Oled range with the C and G series at the top of the list.

These two televisions are in fact the most interesting in terms of value for money and receive our praise every year during our tests thanks to their exemplary versatility. The LG C4 and G4 of 2025 will therefore give way to the LG C5 and G5 with some improvements, even if we still have little technical information it must be admitted.

AI, always AI

It’s difficult to miss artificial intelligence in most manufacturers today and LG clearly placed emphasis on it during its presentation. On the program, more personalization and content recommendations according to the user who can be recognized directly by voice. Everything will even be boosted by an LLM (Large Language Model) enough to make your television a real GPT Chat assistant.

LG’s new AI Chatbot.

We can therefore ask the Chatbot questions to change settings on the fly or ask it for help if necessary. That said, this functionality will undoubtedly be reserved for the United States and Korea and at the moment we do not really know what artificial intelligence options will really be available here. In any case, the features presented seemed quite “gimmicky” to us and nothing revolutionary is on the horizon this year.

More brightness and a new remote control

On the hardware side, the improvements are quite slim, it must be admitted, although they are naturally welcome. The more high-end G5 officially abandons its MLA (Micro Array) technology which appeared just a few years ago, but will see its brightness increased thanks to a new process without us having any more information on the subject. We do not currently know the evolution of the light peak and we will therefore have to wait for our test to find out more.

The LG G5 is designed to be hung on the wall.

Small bonus, the television will now be able to go up to 165 Hz, an interesting element for PC gamers, but ultimately not different from the current 144 Hz. We imagine that the C5 will also benefit from a gain in brightness compared to the C4, but we will again have to wait for our measurements to be sure.

Otherwise, the Magic Remote has a new look after years of good and loyal service. It is true that we have been asking for a more modern design for some time and LG has finally decided to take the plunge. The new remote control is now more current, compact and appears generally successful. There you will find shortcuts to the usual applications and, inevitably, to the AI functionalities. The gyroscope dear to LG is of course still included to quickly navigate the screen using the pointer.

Say hello to the new LG remote control.

The LG B5 and M5 to complete the range

The B series is present again this year and we will therefore always be able to get our hands on the manufacturer’s affordable Oled television. We hope LG will let us test it this year, but unfortunately we’re not really counting on it. Finally, the ultra high-end M5 will also be there, still benefiting from its fairly unique wireless case, as well as the Oled light panel of the LG G5. The perfect combo, if you can afford it of course, the M4 being sold for €4,500 when it was released in 65 inches.

Speaking of prices, we will have to wait for the official release of the televisions in to know their prices in euros according to the diagonals, but we should logically stay on prices similar to those of 2024 when the TVs are released, namely around the 3600 € for the 65G4 and a little over 2000 € for the 65C4. See you in a few months for the tests!
