Microsoft released the first build 2025 of Windows 11 through a Windows Insider program canary channel. Windows 11 Build 27766 introduces improvements and bug fixes.
The objective put forward is to optimize the overall experience of the operating system. To achieve this we are deploying a small set of general improvements and fixes.
For example the release note explains the correction of a bug affecting an upgrade. If you roll back build 27764 to an earlier build (including a failed upgrade), a “Vyour organization used App Control for Business to block this app » appears if certain third-party applications are installed or used. Along the same lines, the main issues causing the increased number of restores (with error code 0xc190010) when attempting to upgrade have been resolved. In addition to all this, there is also a patch to resolve problems that cause frequent crashes after installing explorer.exe or resetting their PC.
Being on the Canary channel, this build is not without known problems so it is not recommended for a production PC. For example if you join the Canary channel on a new Copilot+ PC from the Dev or Release Preview channels the Windows Hello PIN and biometric data to connect to the PCs are lost with an error 0xd0000225 and the error message “ Something went wrong and your PIN is not available ».
Microsoft is also working on display issues such as
- Showing accent-colored window borders when enabled,
- shadows around windows not showing when activated,
- and displaying window launch animations (and others) even if the display animations setting is disabled.
