While the year 2024 was relatively stingy when it came to good video games, 2025 seems to intend to make us forget this crossing of the desert. From RPG («role-playing game» or role-playing game) to the FPS («first-person shooter» or “first-person shooter”), there will be something for everyone and especially on all consoles. The opportunity to take a quick overview of the five games that are already catching our eye.

“Everything comes in time to those who wait.” A well-known saying from Rockstar Games, since the American studio has gotten into the habit of making gamers wait for many years between the different opuses of its flagship games. There were indeed eight years between “Red Dead Redemption” and “Red Dead Redemption II” and twelve years between “Grand Theft Auto V” (“GTA V”) and “GTA VI”.
As a reminder, “GTA V” is the 2e best-selling game in history with 205 million copies, that means waiting for the next episode!
If the formula seems to remain the same, with at the heart of the gameplay heists and chases, the big novelty of this sixth opus lies in the fact that, this time, one of the main characters is a woman! Enough to tickle our attention and escape from a universe that is a little too masculine.
Scheduled for fall 2025, the game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. PC players may have to wait several months before having access to it as well.

Developed by Capcom, this franchise long belonged to a niche genre, until it achieved international success in 2018, thanks to “Monster Hunter: World”.
Proof that the license has won over the general public, it released a film based on its universe in 2020. If the cinema does not honor this singular and colorful universe, “Monster Hunter Wilds” seems to have all the cards in hand to do it.
Available from February 28, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC, this new opus promises to be rich in new features. The world, darker, is also more dynamic since the weather there is volatile. The developers have also thought about making travel easier, in particular thanks to Seikrets (small birds which act as mounts) and the fact that there is no longer any download time between the different areas.
More fluid and accessible, “Monster Hunter Wilds” is also likely to amaze us as the graphics seem attractive.

The most badass of bounty hunters, Samus Aran, will once again don her armor in 2025, for a fourth opus of the highly anticipated “Metroid” saga. In the video of gameplay unveiled last June, we find mechanics well known to the franchise such as the possibility of transforming into a morphing ball or even scanning enemies. The most attentive will also have recognized Sylux, a bounty hunter from Cylosis, who happens to be the main antagonist of “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond”.
Nintendo has announced that the FPS will be available on Switch. However, some are convinced that it will also be present on the Japanese giant’s new console, expected for fall 2025. Their arguments? The quality of the graphics present in the gameplay and ideal timing. Time will tell!

“Fable” is the RPG we’re waiting for in 2025! As a reminder, the first opus, released in 2004, shook the video game world by introducing the possibility of making choices which have real consequences in the story. We then saw our character gradually transform into an imp if we acted badly or, conversely, into a haloed angel if we were benevolent.
The franchise enjoyed great success until 2010’s “Fable III,” which disappointed many fans. This new opus is thus awaited with impatience tinged with a touch of distrust. Will it live up to the first two episodes? The images of gameplay revealed by Playground Games are in any case promising and show a game with a polished aesthetic accompanied by the humor characteristic of the series.

«Death Stranding 2: On the Beach»

A thick mystery surrounds the second episode of “Death Stranding.” Deliberately cryptic, it nevertheless promises to have the same DNA as its predecessor since we find the character of Sam, played by Norman Reedus, to follow the rest of his adventures.
North America no longer seems to be our character’s only playground and if we trust the images revealed, the climate would also become an issue. Indeed, Sam’s journey could be disrupted by natural disasters, which would add a little spice to the gameplay sometimes bland and repetitive from the previous episode.
Multiple theories already surround “Death Stranding 2”, but Kojima’s universe will only truly reveal its secrets during its official release, in 2025, on PlayStation 5.
